Broken cars, Broken people…

It was Monday 8th Jan 2018 and officially the first working day of the year. I rushed out of the house quickly to “beat the traffic”. The difference was clear, Lagos was back!!! Definitely a lot of difference between last week – free roads, less cars – and today!!

As I drove on third mainland, I noticed quite a number of “broken down” cars on the service lane. Some had passengers by the side, others were being pushed and few moved at very slow pace.
Initially I thought “come on, it’s the first day, didn’t you work on your cars all holiday?” Then again, the story is different for everyone. I remember my car is due for servicing too and I just keep postponing it.
As I drove past more cars I paused and said a prayer for those with “broken cars”…..

What do you do when you see a broken down car? Sometimes we quickly change lanes so we are not delayed…
Other times, we are even angry that it broke down and move on quickly.
And then if it’s not on our lane, we sometimes see it as an opportunity to quickly change lanes (because others behind are stuck) and move on ahead!!

There are “broken people”in our career paths. How do we reach out to them? Do we focus on the work to be done that we forget that colleague going through a difficult time ?
Are we too busy to even notice?
Or we “monster up” and tell them to leave their worries at home and get the job done!!!!

There are “broken people” in our environment, are we so focused on our immediate family that we can’t see them?

Perhaps they don’t matter to us… but they matter to God and He will ask us!!
Yes he will ask us!! Matt 25:35-40
We won’t see it all, but the ones God opens our eyes to, let’s reach out and help.

Have a great week ahead friends.
