Wahala lady… solving problems

Who remembers the Tuesday (7th of August,2018) traffic in Lagos?? Well I know we have lots of traffic days but this was out of this world… I thought I had missed it because I left the office early, made it to Unilag in good time for BeyondaDegree. By about 8:50pm, I started heading home.. I was grateful for a good session at BeyondaDegree until…..

Just about 10 blocks to my destination, I realised I had not moved for a minute plus… it was a narrow street with double parking but usually it was a matter of seconds to get home…After a little wait, I switched off my car, put on my double trafficator and proceeded to check the problem….
Alas, there were so many cars passing the street because of the traffic on the main road… This street with double parking could only take one car at a time and the traffic had built so much the other lane could not continue to move, but the drivers kept moving, blocking my lane. So it was a stand still!!! I thought for some moments and tried to resolve it with another gentleman that had come out from his car.
We needed to get the second lane to stop moving so we could move… He proceeded to stop the cars… I ran back to move my car in expectation we would soon move but Alas…. a “danfo” driver would not obey and all our efforts went to the drain!!!
Before I realised it was 9:30pm and we were still stuck.. By this time more drivers had come out of their cars, I am not sure why they sat in earlier… Together we decided to work towards a solution….
The verdict, we will get the other cars in the other lane to reverse…. one man led the efforts and naturally because they had stayed for a while they decided to reverse…. Again we thought we were making progress until another “danfo” driver insisted he won’t move. I went to him and shouted, “you don’t want to reverse, then you will sleep here today… my house is few blocks away, I will just leave my car here..”
After few minutes even the streets guys joined to make sure the traffic was cleared..
Eventually we had to compromise, I reversed a bit, others joined and we moved…
By this time my husband had joined me at the street… I left in the car while he strolled down and a man commented, that wahala woman 😁😁😂😂 My hubby caught the statement, confronted them and reported at home..
Yes I can be wahala woman when we need to solve problems yet I understand we need to compromise at sometime!!!
How can we truly solve the traffic situation in Lagos state? Share your thoughts…
Have a great weekend 😘😁😁🤗

  1. *Wahala Lady* had a very good intention for all at that moment. I love the approach.

But to make things sweeter, one can leverage on the energy & hastiness of those commercial bus drivers. I mean persuade them to participate and making things go right on the road is usually a winning option. Ordinarily, they are always in a hurry to drop their current passengers to pick up another (time is money🙂).

In fact, most times I think they are usually the first to come out of their bus in such situations save for few.

I hope my approach works next time☺.
